A lot of people are under the mistaken belief that if you build it they will come... visitors they mean, to your website. Sadly, the internet world would be a fabulously fantastic place if this adage were true; but it isn't.
If you have a web site you need to promote and market it. Internet marketing can be as cheap or as expensive as you desire. If your time is worth little to you then you can spend hours and hours week in and week out promoting your web site products or services. Most of us
however, prefer to spend at least some waking hours in other pursuits ;)
Email marketing campaigns can be very successful and relatively low cost. Opt in newsletters are another great way to create a database of potential clients or repeat business.
Contributing articles to ezines and message board forums that relate to your field are also low cost effective ways to getting your url (domain name) found on the internet.
Submitting your site to as many search engines and directories as possible is essential. A mix of free listings, pay per listing, and pay per click is the optimal way of utilising search engine traffic. Ensuring you have the necessary and appropriate meta tags is important,
and tracking where your traffic is coming from helps you to evaluate and plan future internet marketing campaigns.
Mini sites related to the industry/area that you operate are also good options as these mini sites all give you more pages that can be listed in search engines. The more pages you have listed, the better your chances of being found. If you want detailed advice on how to market your site
then please email me with your details.
